#interview: 3 questions for Cosima Christian, Teamlead Payroll & Administration

International Women’s Day is on 8 March. However, we pay attention to gender equality not just on this day, but every day, and are proud that women now make up almost 40 per cent of our management staff. Among them is Cosima Christian, whose professional journey began with PROMOS around 10 years ago.

Back then, she joined us during her training and worked in financial accounting. After completing her training, she moved to the HR department, where she played a key role in building up the team. She left PROMOS briefly in search of professional development, but returned in September 2023 as a young team leader for HR Payroll & Administration. In an exclusive interview, we asked her what makes her job so exciting and what tips she can give other new managers.

Hi Cosi! You've been a manager for just under six months. What has changed the most for you since then?

Cosima: Above all, the new organisational and development opportunities for our team have changed. We have the opportunity to think and organise our processes in a completely different way. Not only can we make the most of our individual strengths, but we can also save a lot of time by optimising processes. We are also stepping up our collaboration with other departments in order to serve as a strategic business partner.

What excites you most about this new role?

Cosima: Taking on the role of team leader is a significant milestone in my professional career. It enables me not only to take on greater responsibility, but also to play an active role at management level. I also enjoy sharing my expertise with the team in order to develop my team members both professionally and personally and to deepen the level of knowledge within our department. In HR in particular, we are constantly faced with new, exciting and legal challenges that need to be overcome.

What projects are you looking forward to in 2024?

Cosima: We have exciting digitalisation projects planned, including the automation of more workflows and the further development of our HR software, particularly in the area of performance and development. We also want to further enhance the employee experience with targeted measures.

We've already asked 3 questions, but maybe one last one: What tip can you give to all new managers?

Cosima: Communication is the be-all and end-all – a principle that is of great importance not only in a professional context, but also in everyday life. Especially in the workplace, it is crucial to talk openly about issues as a team and give everyone the opportunity to contribute. I attach particular importance to clear structures and transparent communication. My tip is therefore to make time for regular conversations in which you can talk to each other as equals, listen to each other and exchange ideas. An open communication culture not only promotes team spirit, but also contributes significantly to success.

Thank you, Cosima, for the exciting insights. We are delighted to have you as one of our new managers and hope you continue to enjoy your time at PROMOS.
