CREM – 3 Billion Euros Saving Potential in the Real Estate Management

A study of the real estate consulting company CBRE has shown that the 30 DAX-companies could save about 3 billion euros together annually, if they all used a central and professional real estate management for the management of their housing stocks. After all, this equals 10 percent of the overall operative management costs, amongst others maintenance, repairs, rents and more.

The DAX-30 companies belong to the so called corporates, whose core business isn’t explicitly in the real estate. Differently from housing companies they only use their real estates for the purpose of operational service performances. This means, real estates owned by the concern are only used for the own use, for example as a manufacturing hangar, an office complex or an educational establishment. Nevertheless, operationally needed real estates affect the company financially and provide – like shown by the CBRE – substantial saving potentials from 10 percent in the real estate management to 25 percent in the facility management. [1]
